About the role
As a Senior Security Consultant (Design), you will lead the design and delivery of electronic and physical security systems for projects in the UK and globally. This role involves collaboration with internal teams, consultants, and clients to produce high-quality, compliant design documentation and security solutions. The ideal candidate will bring technical excellence, design creativity, and a strong understanding of industry best practices.
What you will do
- Electronic Security Design – Develop concept, developed and technical designs of security solutions (extending to video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, intercom systems)
- Physical Security Design – Develop concept, developed and technical design of physical security solutions such as Vehicle Security Barrier (VSB) systems, Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM), security fencing and walling, security doors and window systems
- Produce reports, specifications, and 2D drawings through all design stages using Microsoft-based applications and QCIC’s internal design software
- Lead and participate in client and project collaboration meetings, both to assist members of the Professional Team with coordination issues, and to add value from a key stakeholder standpoint as the client’s trusted security advisor
- Ensure that practices, policies, strategy and services represent the client best interests
- Lead, manage, and design for our engagements, including technical security reviews, audits, design surveys, installation inspections and approvals (where required), working both at client sites, within QCIC’s head office, or remote
- Work alongside colleagues within the business to manage the delivery, coordination of technically excellent and profitable projects
Commercial
- Maintain accurate financial forecasting, project planning, resource planning and financial reporting on a monthly basis
- Assist, and work collectively alongside senior management, to identify and pursue new business opportunities, whether with new or existing clients, across all QCIC business workstreams
Marketing
- Participate in promoting QCIC, whether via company marketing activities or industry networking events
- Assisting the marketing department to produce design-related articles for industry journals and QCIC social media platforms
What we are looking for
- Membership within a security-related institute
- Extensive background in electronic and physical security systems consulting and construction administration services within varying market sectors across all RIBA Plan of Work stages
- Thorough knowledge of current national and international security design standards and installation practices
- Experience of operational risk management and application of physical security solutions (including but not limited to Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM), forced entry protection)
- Hold a passion for creative and intuitive design
- Experience in building and maintaining effective and strong client relationships
- Commitment to Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
- Owning problems and providing problem solving solutions
- Strong interpersonal/relationship building/client management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Desirable
- A certified, security related (or relevant security industry) qualification
- Knowledge and experience of using design-related software platforms (i.e. AutoCAD, Revit)
