London’s Battersea Power Station Development (Phase 2): Luxury apartments, offices and retail space
The Battersea Power Station Development Phase 2 is the £750m ($1.25bn) restoration of London’s decommissioned power station. Wilkinson Eyre Architects, one of the leading practices in the UK, led the project to convert the Grade II* listed building into some 100 retail and F&B units, an events venue, 500 000 sq ft (46 452m2) of office space and 253 luxury apartments.
The mixture of public and private spaces meant that a robust and adaptable automated access control system (AACS) was required. We proposed designs for an AACS that would allow those living in, working in or visiting the complex access only to areas of the building they were authorised to be in.
Working in collaboration with the London Metropolitan Police, QCIC adhered closely to the vision of the architects and interior designers when designing a security strategy for the power station. This included incorporating discreet cameras into iconic heritage elements in such a way that they did not detract from the aesthetic of the property.
