King’s Cross R8

The King’s Cross R8 development consists of two mixed-use buildings surrounding a central courtyard and was designed by Piercy & Co. Architects to recapture the industrial warehouse aesthetic through exposed finishes and spacious high ceilings. It is part of the King’s Cross transformation project that brings 50 new buildings, 1 900 new homes, 20 new streets, 10 new public parks and squares and 26 acres of open space to Central London.

Having been involved since the initial planning stages, QCIC utilised architectural layouts to create a comprehensive security strategy that included automated access control systems, CCTV, security system integration, entrance control and lobby design.

We identified and designed appropriate authentication and access levels, as well as corresponding verification technologies for each business group within the buildings, and liaised with Building Control and Statutory Fire bodies to ensure that emergency door overrides were correctly located.
