Wimbledon no.1 court

The No. 1 Court at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, Wimbledon, London, is used for Wimbledon and other major tennis championships.

QCIC was commissioned to carry out a blast vulnerability assessment for the new No.1 Court, designed by KSS Architects and Thornton Tomasetti Structural engineers. The redesign provides an updated, contemporary, new playing court that includes a retractable roof and increased seating to accommodate 12 345 people.

We assessed the effects of a Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Device on the stadium façade and structure, and suggested design measures that could be included to mitigate the level of hazard arising from a terrorist attack. We then worked with the design team to incorporate those measures.
